Gounod’s “Faust” is one of the most performed operas in the world which, adapted by librettists Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, is based on the first part of Goethe’s Faust.

Among others, popular highlights are the waltz “Ainsi que la brise légère” and the drinking chorus “Vin ou bière” in Act II, Faust’s cavatina “Salut! Demeure chaste et pure” and for Marguerite, the Ballad of the King of Thule and the Jewels’ Aria in Act III. In Act V, Gounod added a ballet featuring a wild sabbath of devils and witches on the Brocken mountain.

The new production is by the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice in co-production with the Teatro di Bologna. The cast includes: Conductor Frédéric Chaslin; Director Joan Anton Rechi; Sets Sebastian Ellrich; Costumes Gabriela Salaverri; Light designer Alberto Rodriguez Vega; Chorus Master Alfonso Caiani; La Fenice Orchestra and Choir.

Roles: Doctor Faust Ivan Ayon Rivas; Méphistophélès Alex Esposito; Marguerite Carmela Remigio; Valentin Guillaume Andrieux; Wagner William Corrò; Siébel Paola Gardina; Marthe Schwerdtlein Julie Mellor.
