Organized by the Los Angeles-based nonprofit arts organization bardoLA, Lita Albuquerque’s solo exhibition “Liquid Light” is a collateral event of the 59. Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition, open at Olivolo in San Pietro di Castello until November 27, 2022.
The exhibition is a multidimensional event that includes the world premiere of a film and an installation, typical of the artistic practice of the artist, a well-known member of the Light and Space and Land Art movements.
The main protagonist of “Liquid Light” is a female astronaut who spreads esoteric knowledge in the universe and finds herself between the planes of imagination and Earth. Unable to transmit cosmic harmony to humans, she is forced to remain on the threshold between light and darkness, just like humanity today. The work is presented as a multi-screen installation featuring the artist, and her daughter Jasmine as dancer, choreographer and performer.
Collaborating with Venetian artisans and purchasing materials locally, this exhibition aims to support the local community of Venice in their efforts to preserve their ancient crafts while building a sustainable future.
