Myung-Whun Chung began his musical career as a pianist. He has served as music director of the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra, principal guest conductor of the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, and music director of the Opéra de Paris-Bastille. His love for Italy has been the source of his extensive work for many years, including his position as principal conductor of the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He is a frequent guest conductor at the Teatro La Fenice.
