A new play “Pa’ ” by director Marco Tullio Giordana will be staged at the Goldoni Theater from November 17 to 20. The director has chosen Sicilian actor Luigi Lo Cascio, “who already in his body – thin, athletic, neurotic – recalls that of the poet,” to play Pier Paolo Pasolini, and recounts “Pasolini through his words“, with the intention of making more familiar “a figure who over time has come to take on a vaguely threatening air”, for his alarming analyses of Italian society.
Director Giordana says, “I would like Pasolini to be freed from the accusation that he was a prophet of doom. His denunciations of ‘genocide’, of ‘anthropological mutation’, were a desperate call to do something to prevent them from happening, at a time when action could still be taken to prevent them“.
Strongly desired by Giorgio Ferrara, artistic director of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto, which produced it, Pa’ brings Pasolini to the theater without drawing on Pasolini’s theater.
