At Teatro La Fenice, American conductor Robert Trevino will conduct Gustav Mahler’s “Seventh Symphony” from May 27-29, 2022.
Mexican-American Robert Trevino came to international attention with his triumph at the Bol’šoj Theatre in Moscow in 2013. Since then, he has been regularly invited to the world’s most prestigious orchestras. Growing up under the aegis of Michael Tilson Thomas and Seiji Ozawa, he has developed a particular sensitivity to the Central European repertoire.
According to Mahler, the “Seventh” is among the most difficult and complex of his nine symphonies, which he worked on “in a frenzy” during the summer of 1905 and in a climate of almost absolute isolation. Compared to the considerable interest in musical circles, the symphony was less successful among the public.
Trevino’s program at La Fenice Theatre includes:
- Gustav Mahler, Symphony No. 7 in E minor
